There are plenty more activities to do at Oneta. For the energetic there is trekking on a series of trails around the resort that go along the ridgeline and to the waterfall in the next valley. Snorkelling tours are frequent, especially recommended is the manta trip where you can swim with these incredible gentle beasts in winter months. There is also a garden tour for those seeking to learn about Fiji's native plants, beach volleyball and kite flying.
Oneta prides itself on being a fully carbon neutral resort and works consistently to protect and nurture its pristine environment as well as support the Fijian villages on Ono Island. There is no air con, the slats in the wooden windows of the bures provide plenty of breeze. Water is heated by solar, there is no single use plastic. Everything the conscientious traveller wishes for is in place. The staff are very friendly producing one of the most immaculate welcomes and departure serenades in the Fiji Islands.

#bu!
Fresh coconut juice is known as 'BU' in Fijian. It comes from young coconuts husked and hacked open with effortless expertise (more credit worthy once you've tried it yourself) . These coconuts are succulent, refreshing and rich in nutritional content due to high electrolyte properties.
Fijians, like other Islanders in the South Pacific, have long used young coconuts for drink in times of drought and for healing as Bu have antibacterial qualities.
These gems of nature are hideously refreshing and can alleviate the effects of hangovers!
Oneta is lucky enough to have a manta ray cleaning station on its very own doorstep. Just 5 minutes by boat the cleaning station is often visited by 4 or more manta rays Between the months of May to November the ability to swim with these graceful giants is virtually guaranteed. The mantas line up to have parasites removed from their gills and mouth by the small fish 'working' the cleaning station. Only snorkelling is permitted.m
Solo Light house reef is a barrier coral reef with a series of hard coral wall dives, caves and arches. Sharks patrol the drop off and there are a collection of fish schools such as snapper and fusiliers that live in shallow waters. The wall drops off to 100 metres + The current can be strong which keeps the reefs healthy and brings in fish schools.
The Aquarium is an easy shallow dive protected from the prevailing south easterly winds. It comprises a series of hard coral stacks with plenty of reef fish. Amid gullies and cracks soft corals and nocturnal fish can be found.
A large volcanic rock with a fissure through the middle has created a dive site full of swimthroughs to explore. The site has many nudibranchs and critters to discover and for the wide angle photograpy enthusiast the light streaming through the cracks makes a lovely scene.
Broken Rock is located close to Split Rock. It has a vertical drop swim through and a series of walls and canyons to explore. Turtles can be found sleeping in the swimthroughs and a selection of anemone fish, nudibranchs, octopus and reef fish can be seen.
Oneta Resort offers a special discount for groups of 11 divers. Perfect for dive clubs, extended families or groups of friends.
Waterlust recommends for manta rays, dolphin interactions and humpbacks (in season) and pristine hard coral wall diving
