How does a Fiji underwater wedding work?


Descend to your underwater chapel!  Fiji has some world famous dive sites where the natural world lays on the prettiest of wedding-scapes. Imagine the trailing dendronepthya of the Great White Wall on Rainbow Reef or the golden soft corals of the Mellow Yellow dive site wedding arch. ...


  1. The marriage celebrant will perform the ceremony  for the wedding couple on a 1 tank dive
  2. The underwater dive site will be decorated where possibly without touching the marine environment
  3. Laminated dive cards and underwater pens are used to confirm the vows
  4. Veils and dresses can be arranged using dive weights
  5. The videographer and/or photographer will take the images for your portfolio
  6. A waterproof flower bouquet can be provided




Fiji Underwater Wedding

Our  3 favourite places to get married underwater in Fiji 


1. The Great White Wall  on Rainbow Reef -  white soft corals quivering in the blue ocean create an ethereal magic perfect for a wedding. The dive site is around 23 metres deep and you will kneel together at the entrance of the volcanic lava swimthrough to get married before gliding hand in hand along the drop off.


2. Mellow Yellow in Bligh Water - a golden wedding arch at around 18 metres.  The yellow soft corals have colonised a frame of green hard coral trees.  The arch is teeming with anthia damselfish making for the most magical setting for a couple of scuba divers tying the knot.


3. Kansas dive site at Namena Reserve - think pinks and purples.  This shallow site with an iconic 'view' hole is a beautiful soft coral covered bommie accessible from Savusavu.  After you've performed the underwater ceremony swim through the passage to the outer reef to enjoy the company of schooling trevally and barracuda.

Choosing the right underwater photographer and or videographer for your underwater wedding or trash the dress session in Fiji  is very important.  Underwater photography is very different to photography above the water.  Without strobe lights to capture clarity and colours you can expect washed out blues and blurred images.


At Waterlust Fiji  underwater photography we use a NIkon D850 which can provide images of 46 mega pixels - meaning you can expand and print your wedding images at any size, print on acrylic or canvas or even a duvet cover!     We use two professional strobe lights for photography and 3 video lights so the colours of the reef, the dresses and flowers will be vibrant and clear.
